European Association of American Studies (EAAS)
The European Association for American Studies is a confederation of national and joint national associations of American Studies in Europe. It was founded at Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, in 1954.
British Association of American Studies (BAAS)
The website is intended to be the hub of the BAAS community with information on our awards, annual conferences, schools’ liaison work, calls for papers, publications, job listings, related research networks and a media contacts database through which we can share our expertise and increase our visibility. We continue to include BAAS news, resources and links, as well as information on our committee structures.
Modern Language Association (MLA)
Founded in 1883, the Modern Language Association of America provides opportunities for its members to share their scholarly findings and teaching experiences with colleagues and to discuss trends in the academy. MLA members host an annual convention and other meetings, work with related organizations, and sustain one of the finest publishing programs in the humanities. For more than a century, members have worked to strengthen the study and teaching of language and literature.
American Studies Association
The ASA promotes meaningful dialogue about the U.S., throughout the U.S.and across the globe. Our purpose is to support scholars and scholarship committed to original research, innovative and effective teaching, critical thinking, and public discussion and debate. We are a network of scholars, teachers, writers, administrators and activists from around the world who hold in common the desire to view US history and culture from multiple perspectives. In addition to being the oldest and largest scholarly association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of US culture and history in a global context, we are also one of the leading scholarly communities supporting social change.
American Literature Association (ALA)
In June 1989, members of the major societies devoted to American authors met at the Cal State Symposium on American Literature in San Diego, to discuss ways to provide specialists in American authors with new opportunities for scholarly interaction. The result was the American Literature Association: a coalition of societies devoted to the study of American authors.
Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien
Die Gesellschaft für Kanada-Studien e.V. (GKS) ist eine gemeinnützige Vereinigung mit derzeit 530 Mitgliedern (Stand: Juni 2015). Sie koordiniert schwerpunktmäßig die kanadabezogenen wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Die Ziele der GKS sind in ihrer Satzung verankert und werden durch eine Reihe von Aktivitäten verwirklicht.
Czechoslovak Studies Association (CSA)
The Czechoslovak Studies Association unites over a hundred scholars, both in the United States and abroad, who share an interest in the history and culture of Czechoslovakia, its predecessor and successor states, and all its peoples, within and without its historical boundaries. Since its first meeting in 1974, the CSA has worked to encourage scholarly work in Czechoslovak history and related fields, to provide a network and information resources for Czech and Slovak studies, and to collaborate with scholars and institutions having similar aims.
Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies (ASEEES)
Established in 1948, the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) - a nonprofit, non-political, scholarly society - is the leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and Eastern Europe in regional and global contexts.
British association for slavonic and east european studies (basees)
BASEES is the UK national learned society for the study of Russia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. The main activity of the association is the annual conference, held normally in Cambridge in spring, with over 400 participants drawn from the UK but with many others from continental Europe and North America as well as Russia and Eastern Europe. BASEES is active on behalf of its members in dealings with government, with other associations and with individual universities.
